A pesar de tener tantas cosas que hacer, hay algo que nunca permito que desaparezca de mi vida en favor de todas esas tareas y ese algo es la lectura. Aunque sea 10 minutos, necesito evadirme de mis responsabilidades y este método es el más efectivo (si la historia me engancha, claro).
La historia de la que os voy a hablar hoy a mi me ha encantado, me gusta muchísimo ver la evolución de un personaje y esta historia trata precisamente de eso.
El protagonista, del que no se da el nombre en ningún momento, es víctima de un accidente de tráfico tras una alucinación y, en dicho accidente, el coche empieza a arder con él dentro, así que se quema y deja de ser una estrella del porno para convertirse en un monstruo.
No ha tenido una vida fácil y el accidente no parece que vaya a hacer las cosas más sencillas, pero un día recibe la visita de Marianne Engel, quien cambiará su vida para siempre. Marianne, que esculpe gárgolas a las que supuestamente entrega corazones, le da fuerzas para seguir adelante y trabajar en su recuperación mientras le cuenta la historia de su unión más de 700 años atrás.
Intercaladas con las historias de su supuesta vida medieval, Marianne le cuenta las historias de personajes de otras épocas en Japón, Islandia, Inglaterra e Italia. Estas historias ayudarán al protagonista en su viaje por el Infierno de Dante.
Tiene detalles muy fuertes en lo que respecta a cuando se está quemando y a los tratamientos y descripciones de las quemaduras, así que no sé si a los que seáis muy sensibles a esos temas os hará gracia, pero son sólo unas páginas. La historia vale mucho más que eso.
Es un libro fácil de leer cuando no tienes tiempo, los capítulos no son muy largos y, de serlo, hay varios cambios de escenario que ayudan si tienes que dejarlo para hacer otras cosas sin dejarte a la mitad de nada.
Lo que peor llevo cuando termino un libro es el sentimiento de vacío que me queda al despedirme de los personajes, eso y tener que decidir lo que voy a leer después :P

Even though I got a ot of things to do, there's something I never let down no matter what, and that thing is reading. Even if it's just for 10 minutes, I need to evade my responsibilities and hat's the most effective method I know (if the story is good enough).
The story I'm going to tell you about this time really caught me, I love to see how the characters evolve and this story is precisely about that.
The main character, whose name remains unknown all the time, gets involved in a car crash after hallucinating and the car starts burning with him inside it, so he burns and stops being a porn star to become a monster.
He hadn't had an easy life, and with the accident things don't seem likely to improve, but one day a woman named Marianne Engel starts visiting him in the burn ward and she will be the one to change his life forever. Marianne, who sculpts gargoyles and provide them with hearts, gives him the strength to go on and work hard on his recovery while telling him the story of their union more than 700 years ago.
Intertwined with their medieval love story, Marianne also tells him about people from other times in Japan, Iceland, England and Italy. These stories will help him in his journey through Dante's Hell.
The book has strong detailed descriptions about the burning and burnt treatments, so if you're too sensible to these things you may not like it, but it's just a few pages. The story is much more than that.
It's an easy book to read when you don't have time, chapters are not very long and, if they are, they change the topic every now and then so you can put it down for a while if you have something else to do.
What I hate most when I finish a book is the feeling of emptiness that remains when I have to say good bye to the characters, that and the fact that I need to decide what to read next :P
